We’re excited to announce the promotion of Dave Tarleton to Vice President of Customer Experience at Qortex. Over the past four years, Dave has been a key part of Qortex’s growth, bringing a thoughtful, people-first approach to leadership and a deep commitment to elevating the customer journey.
Reflecting on his time at Qortex, Dave shared:
"One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about leadership and collaboration, especially in a startup environment, is the importance of truly listening to your team during debates. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment, but at Qortex, we prioritize taking the time to form well-considered opinions."
He continued, "Disagreements are essential for growth, but it’s even more important to leave the room with a unified strategy and clear direction. By fostering open communication, we create an environment where everyone feels valued, ensuring we move forward as a cohesive team, all working toward shared goals."
Dave also offered insight into how he approaches managing a team:
"In a startup, I’ve realized that it’s beneficial not to force people you manage into very specific roles. While it's important to give them clear responsibilities, it’s also valuable to let them explore and run with tasks, seeing where their natural strengths take them."
He likened this approach to football:
"It’s like a football team going outside of its playbook when it realizes a wide receiver has incredible speed and agility. Instead of sticking to basic routes, they design plays that capitalize on the receiver’s ability to stretch the field and break away from defenders. Similarly, in leadership, it’s about being flexible and adapting your approach to the strengths of your team, allowing them to excel where they naturally shine."
Now, as Vice President of Customer Experience, Dave is focused on shaping the full lifecycle of the customer relationship, from onboarding and operations to renewals and support.
"What excites me most is being the voice of the customer and ensuring their feedback influences product development," Dave shared. "While I don’t own product, I collaborate closely with Jo McCawley and the product team to ensure customer insights and needs are considered. Leading Customer Experience allows me to bridge Account Management, Insights, and Operations, ensuring customers feel valued and enhancing their overall experience with our solutions."
And outside of work? Dave stays busy with his 14-month-old daughter, but when he finds a quiet moment, he and his wife have been enjoying CTV hits like Paradise.
"It was definitely one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while!" he said.
Please join us in congratulating Dave on this well-deserved promotion. We can’t wait to see the continued impact he’ll make in this new chapter.
